Resilience in the Making

Why struggle in learning is not something to avoid

With Guest Speaker Emma Rattenbury

When: 18th August 2026

Time: 6:30pm - 7:15pm

This webinar explores the delicate balance between support and 'productive struggle', examining how our environments, relationships, understanding of temperament and pedagogical choices shape children’s capacity to work through difficult moments with confidence and trust. This session will explore some fundamental markers of resilience but importantly we’ll explore how children develop the capacity to tolerate distress, draw on the co-regulation of trusted adults and gradually build the emotional endurance needed to navigate challenge.

Together, we’ll consider what it means to stay close without rushing to rescue, trusting that thoughtful pedagogy creates the conditions for children to discover their own capabilities.
