  Exploring anti-bias perspectives, the EYLF, and how everyday language, expectations, and labels influence children’s identity, belonging, and access to learning

  Designing Inclusive Learning Environments

  Examining how physical, emotional, and intellectual environments communicate values - through materials, relationships, visibility, and curriculum decisions

  
  

• Thursday 17 September, 2:00-3:00pm

  Engaging Families in Inclusive Practice

  Navigating sensitive conversations, reflecting on bias, and building trust with families through dialogue, inquiry, and shared meaning making

  
  
  
  

What does it take to create learning environments where every child feels genuinely seen, safe, and supported to express who they are? Inclusive practice asks us to look closely - at language, relationships, environments, and our own assumptions - and to stay open to learning alongside children and families.

This conversation series explores inclusion as an active, reflective practice rather than a checklist or a set of activities. Being an inclusive educator is a way of being and requires an approach that is centred in critical reflective practice. Using an inquiry lens, we will examine how theory, language, and the physical, emotional, and intellectual dimensions of learning environments shape children’s experiences. We will also explore how sensitive or challenging conversations with families can become opportunities to build trust, shared understanding, and respectful partnerships.

Ellen is deeply passionate about fostering curiosity and creativity through inquiry-based learning. With a strong focus on social justice, reflection, and inclusive practice, Ellen supports teams to build thoughtful partnerships grounded in care, dialogue, and shared responsibility. Her work invites educators to think deeply about belonging, equity, and the ways learning communities can be both reflective and socially conscious. Ellen is an experienced KGlearning Approach practitioner.
